Nothing is worse than being stuck on a long flight without a good movie playlist to help pass the time quickly. These movies are some of my favorites and recommended downloads. They are guaranteed to grab and hold your attention, fend off boredom, and pass the time with ease and entertainment. Enjoy!

1. The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy

An epic adventure trilogy filled with magic, sword fighting, and hardship, The Lord of the Rings trilogy is perfect for taking up time for long flights.

This invigorating three-movie series will snag your attention and make the time go by in the blink of an eye. Follow along as Frodo, a hobbit, travels across perilous lands to return the one ring to Mordor to end the impending doom of the evil reign of Sauron.

2. Jurassic Park

The Jurassic Park collection features three movies, while the Jurassic World series also totals three. In our biased opinion, we highly recommend the three Jurassic Park movies and the first Jurassic World movies (the last two Jurassic World movies weren’t up to par, unfortunately).

Full of suspense, adventure, and dinosaurs, these movies are iconic works of Steven Spielberg packed with action and intensity that will have you hanging on the edge of your seat!

3. Harry Potter

Guaranteed to grasp your attention, the wizarding world of the eight-film Harry Potter collection is one no one should miss out on.

Full of magic, battles, and captivating story-telling, the adventures of the Harry Potter world will take you on a journey you’ll never forget. And if you’re on a long flight, the eight-film collection will easily take up the time while keeping you riveted on the story.

4. Remember The Titans

An impactful movie, Remember The Titans grasps deep subjects of racial divides through the union of the team sport of football.

Based on a true story, the film is set in 1971, when racial tension is high, and two football teams are forced to merge. Viewers can watch a racially divided football team bond to overcome these trials together and win the football state championships.

5. The Judge

Nominated for an Oscar, The Judge features award-winning actors Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall in a grieving family’s emotional and dramatic story as they must push aside their issues to work through new hardships together. The heart-touching themes of redemption and forgiveness make it an emotional rollercoaster that will grasp your attention and make you forget about the woes of a long flight.

6. The Avengers

Now, if you have a ridiculously long flight, we recommend just going ahead and watching all the Marvel movies (they have shows, too!).

Of course, the OG Marvel movies of superheroes are in the Avengers movies, so we highly recommend hopping on a marathon of the Avengers, Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor movies, to name but a few, for the ultimate action-packed method of surviving a tediously long flight.

7. Avatar

We’re talking about the blue people Avatar, not the other one, though Avatar: The Last Airbender show is awesome and another excellent recommendation!

Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water, directed by James Cameron, is a prime example of dedication in the art of CGI and storytelling. The impeccable fantasy setting and outstanding acting performances make for an out-of-this-world experience in science fiction and adventure.

8. Rush Hour

The Rush Hour movies are a lifesaver if you’re looking for comedy and action on your long flight!

There are currently three movies prepped and ready to be watched. Featuring action star Jackie Chan and comedian Chris Tucker, the Rush Hour movies are a hilarious buddy-cop action flick that’ll appease the boredom of a long airplane ride.

9. The Princess Bride

The Princess Bride is a classic movie full of romance, action, suspense, and comedy. Released in 1987, this film continues to be a highly watched movie, thanks to its masterful storytelling and acting performances that explore the theme of true love.

Starring Tom Hanks, Cast Away is an emotional story exploring the perseverance and dedication to the survival of the human spirit. This intense movie will rivet your attention as Hanks’s character is left stranded on an island after his plane crashes – and it adds a taste of horror and suspense to your flight, too!
