For many, the biggest perk to working from home is the chance to travel and see the world. Digital nomads can pick up and work anywhere with an internet connection. After someone asked world travelers who work remotely which destinations they suggest others visit, these were their best suggestions. Have you been?

1. Canary Islands

When someone mentions the Canary Island as their dreamy destination, a fellow digital nomad wants to know why. It’s January, and I’m walking around in shorts and swimming in the Ocean,” he replies. “The people, the food, fast internet, cheap rents and cost of living, everything runs unbelievably perfect.”

2. Switzerland

If you’re cool with the super high standard of living, Zurich, Basel, and Lake Geneva, according to one nomad, are the places to work and live. “Very central to exploring the rest of Europe, great public transport, good salaries, super nice nature. If you need to complain about anything, it would usually be about first-world problems.”

3. Chiang Mia, Thailand

One globetrotter finds it strange that no one mentions Chiang Mia, describing it as unbeatable value for money. “The condo with almost 360° views and an amazing rooftop terrace was under $200. Amazing food. The expat/traveler community was pretty good, too.”

4. Paris, France

Everything moves fast and well in Paris, someone implies, and although items could be somewhat pricey, the busyness and energetic atmosphere would grip you at first glance. Stating how great the food is, another nomad states that “Paris grants you access to absolutely everything.”

5. Bali, Indonesia

A voyager wants you to travel and work in Bali, citing its lush transparent beaches, vibrant beaches, and a burgeoning of remote workers “hard to replicate elsewhere if you’re working on the move.” I have been to many places, but (Bali) is my favorite destination,” he expounds.

6. Cyprus

Cyprus is a place worthy of revisiting, one woman explains. “Everyone speaks English, it has a chill atmosphere, it’s easy to focus when you need to, and it has decent flights to Western Europe.” South Eastern Asia is the only region cheaper than Cyprus, she adds.

7. Brisbane, Australia

Brisbane is the perfect work-travel destination for you, according to one itinerant who says nowhere comes close when talking about round-the-year weather that allows you to work amid all the fun. Someone agrees, adding that Brisbane is a digital nomad paradise where you can easily make friends.

8. Fethiye, Turkey

One backpacker describes Fethiye as an amiable and hospitable destination replete with friendly people and food that tastes dreamy. A second holidaymaker who has only been to Fethiye once remembers it for its stunning scenery and enchanting nightlife.

Itemizing the attractions that make Salzburg unique, a voyager describes it this way: “Good internet, good food, clean, safe, great architecture, amazing air, amazing water. Really good urban infrastructure with public transport and bicycles. Great community of runners, mountaineering/sports culture.” Someone else ranks Salzburg landscape as one of the best in the world.

10. Greece

Someone asks what people’s view of Greece as a nomadic destination is. Another person replies with admiration. “Love it. Paros is my favorite island. Athens is pretty interesting. Kalamata was my favorite mainland city, and Lefkada was another favorite spot. I enjoyed the southern peninsula of Peloponnese a whole lot.”

11. Saint Petersburg, Russia

Describing it as under-appreciated, a digital nomad says although they have traveled around the world while on their gigs, they’ve never been to a place that has a bit of everything like Saint Petersburg in Russia. To call this one of the world’s most beautiful cities is an understatement,

12. Nice, France

Nice, one voyager insists, is as beautiful as beautiful can get. “I enjoy the paved public walk along the seafront at the resort, especially at twilight.” He also explains that Nice is not as expensive as many think, adding that it is “not as cheap, of course.”

13. Newport, Rhode Island
